Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

The Story So Far
Tomorrow's Hope runs on the generous donations of its individual and corporate sponsors in Singapore, Indonesia and around the world. Multiple relief aid organisations provided the Home with financial support as well as buildings and pockets of land in Nias following the tsunami crisis of 2004.
Now maintenance and other long-term solutions need to be in place in order to ensure the facilities continue functioning well, so the children can rest and simply be children, knowing they are being looked after and deeply cared for.
Growing Needs
The needs are increasingly great. The total expenditure for 2022 was very basic, amounting to SGD$14,239 (or Rp 161,428,450). This only covered the minimum costs of food, education, medical needs and the on-site social workers' staff salary.
There are more needy families than ever who were drastically affected by the 2-year pandemic - unable to send their children to school, they have them working in their farms or gleaning fruits from the forests instead. Dormitories, water tanks and other facilities at the Home are in desperate need for an upgrade or maintenance as well. And because farm land is so vast, a farmer is needed to oversee and labour in the fields.
Financial Goals
The minimum financial requirement for the Home to run optimally in 2025 is SGD$35,000. This is based on an estimate of $11k for food and basic necessities for 30 kids, and $24k for staff salaries.
The increasing number of permanent staff who were hired to join the Home from 2024 include:
-
2 full-time and 2 part-time farmers (from 10 who originally helped with land clearing)
-
3 preschool teachers, 1 administrator and 1 centre director for the newly established non-profit kindergarten in July 2024
-
2 social workers as on-site, overnight caretakers of the children residing there
-
ad hoc plumber, electrician and other skilled labourers to maintain the shelter.
Home Survey
Tomorrow's Hope makes a home visit to survey a needy family and their children if they are suitable for the orphanage.
